Youper has shut down: an alternative for what it did for you

·

Youper closed on September 30, 2026. If it was your place for a daily check-in and a talk, here is what takes its place in Luther — and you can start today, free.

Youper stopped working on September 30, 2026. Since October 1 its accounts, chat histories and personal data are being permanently deleted, backups included, and its subscriptions were switched off before the closure.

What is different

Your story, in your own words

Nothing has to be transferred for Luther to know where you are. Tell the assistant in your own words what you have been working on — what you noticed, what helped, what is still hard — and it will keep that in mind from the next conversation on.

Questions people are asking

Has Youper really shut down?

Yes. The app stopped working on September 30, 2026, and from October 1 accounts, chat histories and personal data are deleted from its servers and backups. Subscriptions were switched off before the closure, so nothing is charged.

Can I still export my Youper data?

No. Export was open until September 30, 2026, and the data is now deleted along with the accounts, backups included. If you requested an export in time, keep that file somewhere safe: it is the only copy of your history.

Can I import my Youper history into Luther?

No. There is no importer, and there will not be one — an export from one app is a pile of someone else's text, and reading it into a profile would mean guessing what mattered in it. Instead, tell the assistant in your own words what you have been working on. It keeps that in mind from the next conversation on, and you decide what it remembers.

What are the alternatives to Youper?

Youper was not the only app of its kind, and the ones that remain differ in what usually matters after a shutdown: whether the free plan is usable every day, whether it speaks your language, and what happens to your data when you leave. Luther is ours, so judge it on those three: a free plan that renews daily, five languages end to end, and an account you can delete yourself, completely, from Settings.

Is Luther free?

Yes, to start and to keep using. Your first day comes with 30 messages, 3 conversations and 2 full test readings, with no card — and whatever you do not use on the first day does not expire. After that it is 3 messages a day, every day, plus a test a week with an AI reading, mood check-ins, exercises, sounds and the diary. Premium raises the limits, and the yearly plan starts with 7 free days.
